Our customers provide verbal consent during onboarding or service setup. When meeting with the customer, our staff asks whether they would like to receive notifications via email, SMS text, both, or none. The customer explicitly states their preference, and our staff records their choice in our internal system. Only customers who verbally request SMS notifications are enabled to receive messages from our toll‑free number. Customers may change or disable their notification preferences at any time by contacting us, and we will soon provide a self‑service profile page where they can manage these settings themselves.
The script we use when setting this up is as follows:
Staff: “Would you like to receive notifications alerting you to abnormal conditions with your refrigeration equipment from Building Assure PBC by SMS, email, both, or not receive notifications?”
Customer: “SMS, please.”
Staff: “The notifications are sporadic as conditions arise, so you could go days without a notification, and other days you may receive several. Any text notifications you receive may incur standard message or data rates per your wireless carrier. Do want to proceed with SMS notifications?”
Customer: “Yes, please.”
Staff: “Great, just to confirm, you’re opting in to receive text messages from Building Assure PBC at this number. You can opt out anytime by contacting us. Is that correct?”
Customer: “Yes, that’s correct.”
Staff: “You can change your preferences or opt out at any time by contacting us. You can review our privacy policy at our website https://buildingassure.com/privacy-policy/ “
